Terms of Use
Last updated: 2026-04-25
Summary
staticdata.dev is a free, public CDN of reference datasets. Use the data however you like. The site comes with no guarantees. Don't break the law with it. Don't try to break the service.
License
The site code, the documentation pages, and the data files are released under the MIT license. You may use the data in commercial products, embed it in client-side applications, redistribute it, modify it, and ship it with closed-source software. Attribution is appreciated but not required.
Some underlying data is sourced from third parties (ISO, IANA, ICANN, IETF specifications, vendor documentation). The MIT license applies to our packaging and curation; the underlying facts are either uncopyrightable or governed by their original sources. Where a third party imposes a specific licensing requirement that we believe applies, it is noted on the dataset's documentation page.
Acceptable use
You may:
- Fetch the data files at runtime in any volume the CDN can sustain.
- Embed the URLs as constants in client-side code shipped to end users.
- Mirror the data on your own infrastructure.
- Use the data for any lawful purpose.
You may not:
- Attempt to disrupt the service (denial of service, exploit attempts, etc.).
- Misrepresent the data as if you produced it where doing so would mislead consumers about its provenance.
- Use the data in ways that violate applicable law in your jurisdiction.
Availability
The site is operated on a best-effort basis. There is no uptime SLA. URLs under /v1/ are intended to be permanent, but we cannot guarantee that the service will remain online indefinitely. If the project is shut down, we will give reasonable notice on the homepage.
No warranty
The data is provided "as is" and "as available" with no warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. See the Disclaimer page for more.
Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any damages arising from your use of the site or the data, including loss of profit, loss of data, business interruption, or any other consequential damages.
Changes to these terms
If these terms change in a meaningful way, the "Last updated" date above will change. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the operator's country of residence. Disputes should be resolved by direct communication first; only failing that should formal proceedings be considered.
