About
What this is
staticdata.dev is a CDN of reference datasets that don't change often but matter every day: country codes, currencies, timezones, HTTP status codes, MIME types, IANA registries, Unicode tables, CSS and HTML references, units and constants. Each dataset is published as JSON, CSV, and a typed TypeScript export at a stable URL, plus a human-readable documentation page.
The contract is simple: once a URL is published under /v1/, it never changes shape. Field names and types stay the same; values are corrected and records added when the upstream source changes. Schema-incompatible changes would get a new version path.
No API keys, no auth, no rate limits. The data files carry no analytics; the HTML pages use Google Analytics (see the privacy policy). Cross-origin headers are open and files are served from Cloudflare's edge cache.
Who runs it
Solo project. Maintained by a single developer.
Sustainability
Hosting is free at the current scale. Most datasets are MIT licensed; a few derived from share-alike or attribution-licensed sources carry the upstream license, shown on their page. If you find the data useful, the best way to support it is to use it and tell other developers.
Reliability commitments
/v1/<slug>.<ext>URLs are permanent and keep the same schema. Values may be corrected; each dataset page shows its last-updated date and a changelog.- Schema-incompatible updates ship under a new version path. The old path keeps serving the old data.
- Uptime SLO is informal. The CDN's edge is the limiting factor.
How to suggest a dataset
Email [email protected] with a short description of the dataset, where the source data lives, and the licensing. We accept datasets that are reference-grade (a stable, citable source exists) and broadly useful (more than a few applications would plausibly need them).
We do not accept datasets that are large enough to be databases (cities, postal codes), datasets that require very frequent updates (exchange rates, stock prices), or datasets where licensing is unclear. Larger curated lists such as airports and airlines are filtered to commercially relevant entries and dated.
